Crochet Babette Blanket

This is my crochet babette blanket.  I haven’t quite figured out why it’s called babette yet.  I designed the layout myself on Autocad, and it’s designed in a kind of giant log cabin layout.  The design has big rectangles that are made up of the littler squares.  This meant after each big rectangle of squares I could stop with a regular shaped piece.  Tricky hey?    There’s actually 2 more rectangles in the design that could go on this, but it was getting heavy.

Maybe I’ll stop now.  It’s quilt a good lap quilt size.  Once I finally decide, it might even get an edging.  This design has always reminded me of an early Kaffe Fassett quilt from my first quilting book.

Hmmm, I’ve always been a blue/green person, but the amount of yellow in these are surprising me.  I’ve never been a yellow person.

I’m thinking of starting another one of these.  Maybe in greys and oranges.  Just to put me out of my comfort zone?

  1. Hello!
I’m wondering if you still recall the brand of yarn you used, and possibly the names of the colors. I love this design and would like to try to recreate it. From the photos it seems like there are about 14 different colors.
    Thanks!

    1. Hi, the yarn used is approx 90% Biggan Design yarn, 8 ply. I can’t remember all the colours, but you might be able to work it out from their colours. https://biggandesign.com/yarns.php?ply_count=8
I think there were also a few other yarns leftover in my stash that I used. I’m glad you like it and hope you enjoy making it like I did. I’d love to see a picture when you’re done! Cheers, Narelle
