About

Hi I’m Narelle,

I’m a yarn artist and maker.  I like the juxtaposition of a traditionally warm inside craft and material such as yarn, with the outside environment, trees, hard surfaces and urban settings.

I create and install outdoor thread art, or Yarn Bombing and enjoy sharing my colourful thread creations with people.

I have found myself creating with threads for much of my life.  I taught myself to crochet from a book when I was about 8, and have picked up knitting and quilting along the way.  There’s not much I won’t have a go at, but I do like the results to have some meaning or be practical as well as beautiful.  (Occasionally I’ll settle for cute.)  I started expressing art through quilting and now crochet. I’ve also started knitting socks, which, to my surprise are actually wearable.

This is where I share a lot of my art and craft. Beware my ‘I could do that’ enthusiasm for new projects which will guarantee variety, but not necessarily consistency or even a finished product.

Thanks for visiting, it’s lovely to share with like minded people!

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the name ‘Thread a Little Light’ comes from a slight amendment to the  James Taylor song “Shed a Little Light” which I love.

Oh let us turn our thoughts today
To Martin Luther King
And recognize that there are ties between us
All men and women living on the Earth
Ties of hope and love
Sister and brotherhood
That we are bound together
In our desire to see the world become
A place in which our children can grow free and strong
We are bound together by the task that stands before us
And the road that lies ahead
We are bound and we are boundThere is a feeling like the clenching of a fist
There is a hunger in the center of the chest
There is a passage through the darkness and the mist
And though the body sleeps the heart will never rest

Shed a little light, oh Lord
So that we can see
Just a little light, oh Lord
Want to stand it on up
Stand it on up, oh Lord
Want to walk it on down
Shed… Lyrics by James Taylor
