Storm at Sea Beach Quilt

Since this quilt is in my header, I thought I’d show you the whole of it.  It is actually still a quilt top, one of many UFO’s cluttering up the shelves.  I started it years ago for my son, who then had a beachy theme in his room.  Of course now he’s moved on – style wise that is, which is one of the reasons I’ve never been motivated to finish it.  Now I look around, it might just match our current decor – so maybe it will get moved close to the top of the pile.

It is hand pieced, and I just love the way the colours move across the pattern forming circles and stars.  This photo has a stained glass effect with the light behind, which I also love.

The stripey fabric in the border is actually remnants of a sheet from a sheet set that matched the beachy room.  I had to cut it down to fit the bed, so they were leftovers.

In my head I keep debating whether to hand quilt or machine quilt it.  So, while the jury is out, it stays unquilted.  Here is is without the light behind it. ImageI have just started another hand pieced project using the templates I made for this one, and this quilt is going to be for me!  It’s a long term project as I want it to cover our bed.

Here’s a sneak peak of the first couple of blocks.  I love love love the colours.
