My 2018 Tree Jumper for Jumpers and Jazz in July was called “I can hear a Rainbow” The theme was ‘dulcet’.
It has xylophones on it, and you can play a tune if you follow the coloured dots. Prizes for those who can guess the tunes by sight.
Turns out I won the ‘Theme’ category! This was my artist statement or as we like to call it ‘blurb’.
The dulcet tones of a voice raised in song can inspire others to join in. A rainbow choir is formed. One kind act can inspire others to do the same, together we can make the world a better, kinder, lighter and more colourful place. Play the colours and hear the music!
Here are my parents being supportive by being tuneful.
Then I was really chuffed to see some other (unrelated to me) people playing it too!
Working our way backwards in time, here are the installation photos of me and my sister wrangling a heavy large piece of fabric around a spiky dusty tree, trying to line up the xylophone holes correctly and reach above our natural heights.
A few months before we came and measured up the tree, including seeing how much support the xylophones would need.
Here are some creation photos along the way. The books are stopping the bits from slipping off the table before they are joined.
