A friend wanted to borrow my basting pins, which inspired me to finish the quilting on the Rainbow Squares quilt.
Here’s the back. It took me nearly 3 hours to decide on the backing fabric. Does anyone else have this problem? Talk about a ditherer. I added a strip of leftover blocks (well, some leftover, and some made specially).
Luckily, I really like it, so that’s a relief. I started to debate the binding also, then took myself in hand, pulled myself together and made a quick decision. I cut a strip from a rainbow of plains, and made a rainbow binding. I really like the colour contrast between the binding and the squares.
I love it all folded up and the colours on the edges.
I helped my friend baste her quilt. Here it is, isn’t it pretty. Bravely she is having a go at basting and quilting a quilt herself, the first few she made were sent to a quilter. We took over the foyer at our church, and created quite some interest throughout the morning. Spread the quilting word I say. Despite a nasty sickness invading our house, I have also been making multi coloured play dough and working on the Storm at Sea quilt.
I started to lay it out and count how many blocks might be needed. But then I realised how far it was to go. And really, it’s a process quilt. Something to enjoy working on, not to be finished in a hurry. So I stopped thinking about how much is not done, and focussed on how fabulous the bits that are done look. Love those colours still.
